Category Creativity, Repper, workshop — Tags: , , , , , — studioludens @ 4:10 pm

The 2nd year students from the interior design school HMC explored wallpaper design through our introductory Repper workshops. After a short introduction to Repper and using patterns in Photoshop, they jumped right into the tool and made these wonderful patterns:

You can view more of their creations in our gallery.

We were particularly amazed by the design below by Tara Smit, who simulated a 3D surface. In 1 word: wow!

Repper workshop: design-a-lamp

Two weeks ago we did two workshops with 3rd year interior design students from HMC (Rotterdam) in which they designed a lamp shade in under 3 hours. Quite a challenge, or so we thought, but the students absolutely baffled us with their creative designs!

First they designed a set of patterns with Repper on the computer.

Then it was time to get our hands dirty and started folding, cutting, bending and generally torturing the patterned paper.

Here are some of the great prototypes:

We would like to thank all the enthusiastic teachers and students for a very educational and fun day!

p.s. tell us if your design is featured here and we’ll put your name under it!

Category Creativity, Repper, ideas, products — Tags: , , , , , , — studioludens @ 3:25 pm

We find patterns everywhere around us. One place where you can’t go without some good ol’ pattern-making is fashion design. So what if you made a lovely pattern and you’d like to get it printed on textile? Meet our friends at Spoonflower!

Spoonflower is able to print any design you make with Repper. They have a variety of fabrics, including regular and organic cotton, linen-cotton and even exotics like bamboo-cotton. Prices range from 18 to 32 USD per yard (for metric-minded people: that’s about a square meter), with discount if you are the designer of the pattern.

Below is one of our own patterns printed on linen, looking pretty good. This test-print was made at the Textile Museum in Tilburg, NL.

We hope you feel inspired to use all those pretty patterns and turn them into haute-couture! Send us a photo with your patterned dress/shirt/pants and we will feature you on our blog.

Be sure to keep an eye on our blog, because there is more info & tips coming up for pattern-making fashion fans.

Unfortunately, this means that you might have some trouble upgrading. To install this update, you have to uninstall the previous version first. Keep your serial code ready, as you are required to fill it in one more time. With future updates this should work automatically.
